Cripple Creek Ice Festival

We took a drive today to Cripple Creek, Colorado.

They had an Ice Festival last weekend and this weekend.  There were not a ton of ice sculptures but we enjoy driving up to Cripple Creek now and again.  It's an old gold mining town and gambling has been allowed in Cripple Creek for about 24 years I think.  Gambling in Colorado is limited to three towns including Cripple Creek, Black Hawk, and Central City.  There are a lot of nice restaurants in Cripple Creek so it's a nice drive and it's nice to eat out at a different place.

In the photo above, you can see a train engine carved out of ice.The photo below is the back part of the train, with mountains in the background.

Above you can see a sculptor working.  This sculpture has the front of a western saloon as a backdrop and then there are cowboys on bucking horses out in front of the saloon.

Above, do you see the old wild west theme going on here?  The sculpture above is a stage coach being pulled by a team of horses.

And finally, a conestoga wagon with an ice slide coming out the back.  Kids and some adults were enjoying the slide.

We had a nice dinner out at the Steakhouse at Bronco Billy's Casino.  This restaurant is one of my favorites in Colorado.  As always, it was delicious!  It's a real treat to go there.
